This image shows a partially blocked sewage
pipe in a basement caused by sediment from a
water softener (blue arrow). Build up over
time caused a backup of waste in the pipe
(yellow arrow). Because sewage waste is a
higher temperature, it shows up in a lighter
color on infrared. The green arrow represents
where the homeowner was able to open the
pipe and fix the problem.
Homeowner called to see if I could find their
cat that was missing in the HVAC system. He
got in through an opened return duct possibly
chasing a mouse. Infrared can detect pests
and rodents in homes also.
