Len, you did an infrared scan of our home last October ('06) and told us where our house was letting in cold air, where we needed insulation, and how to fix these areas ourselves. We did most of the things you had recommended by late November and spent a total of $414 on insulation and the like. Our gas and electric bills just from December to March totaled over $340 less than last year in the same months! We do feel a difference in our bedroom and bathroom, and noticed the heater actually runs less. We have a couple more things to do that you recommended, and we can't wait to see how much we can reduce our cooling bills this summer. I'll keep you posted! Thanks, Mike Young Update 1/25/08 Len, I want to let you know that the scan you did for us in October 2006 showed us where we needed to implement energy saving measures, and you told us where not to "waste" money. Well, the $349 for the scan plus the $1,100 we spent on renovations have paid for themselves one and a half times over. We saved over $2,215.32 in energy bills since you first came on 10/27/06 until 12/31/07. I have to admit, I thought you were crazy to suggest that much insulation in our attic, but it wasn't so difficult, and we can really feel the difference. Thanks again, Mike Young a.k.a. "the energy geek" (as my kids call me) -Mike, are you sure it was $2,215.32 and not $2,215.33? Just kidding, thanks, I will add it to your previous excerpt. -Len BTW, is the attic fan included in the $1,100?
"If you are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a home, you'd be foolish not to spend 1/1,000th of that for a new construction inspection! CIRTC inspected our home before our builder walkthrough and found six areas that were at fault and one problem in our home that could have caused major damage if left unfixed. Also no insulation in the master bathroom! Brand new home too!" Dave J. -Pennsburg PA
"I recommend the Infrared inspection to anyone who owns a home or is looking to buy a home. CIRTC found the source of leaking water in our finished basement that three contractors and a home inspector couldn't find!" - P. Matthews -Doylestown, PA

"I want to take a moment to point out how valuable a service this infrared is. I am a retired Navy engineer and saw an ad in the community guide for CIRTC's service, and called to ask about it. I was familiar with Infrared Thermography, and after speaking to Len, I hired him to perform an energy audit to check the whole house for insulation or lack of, and the doors, windows, and heating system. The house was 20 years old and wasn't very efficient. I wanted to get an idea of what I was going to need to make the house more energy efficient, and spending $300 to find out didn't seem too bad. My wife and I thought we smelled something funny from time to time in the cellar, but couldn't figure out exactly what it was. A gas pipe in our basement that connected to the furnace had a pinhole leak in a rusty area and was detected through the infrared camera! This could have proved to be a fatal hazard if left undetected! I quickly shut off our gas supply and called PECO. Len then scanned the shut off valve which hadn't been touched in the life of the home, and detected that it was leaking also (a rotted seal). Also numerous other problems were found both with infrared and some with his experience in inspecting homes. Well finally, the problems were fixed, the house needed some insulation, a furnace, some new windows, (all of which are tax deductible by the way) but no price can be placed on the service that we received that day. Len gave me a discount with the ad coupon, for veteran, and senior citizen totaling 20%, but I feel like I owe him so much more. " N. Harris III -Lansdale PA
"Why didn't my real estate agent know about this type of service when I bought my home??????? The "recommended" home inspector said that the house had (minor problems) and (no evidence of termite infestation). CIRTC's infrared scan showed us through the wall! Unbelievable! Within 3 hours, we found six problems that went undetected by a "REPUTABLE" home inspection firm. My only problem with Comprehensive infrared is they don't advertise enough! Everyone should know about your service!!" A. Douglass -Holland PA
"Wasn't sure what to expect because I never heard of this kind of service before, but we were at the end of our rope with our house and the builder, so we spent $250 to have the leak scanned and it turned out to be coming from our bathroom which a plumber and roofer and inspector couldn't find it. I would have paid four times that amount to have it found the first time. This infrared thing is amazing." K. Barrett -Worcester PA
| "Comprehensive Infrared found numerous errors in our house that our builder missed. Len presented the report to the builder and most of the major problems were fixed within two weeks. Missing insulation and a foundation crack was leaking in our finished basement." My wife and I couldn't believe our eyes when we saw what the infrared camera was able to detect." | Our house has been smelling musty since we bought it 3 years ago. We were told by the previous owners, real estate agent, and home inspector that it was coming from the basement and we just needed a dehumidifier. Even after the dehumidifier, it still smelled. We spent $3,000 to have the basement "dry-locked" and moisture proofed. We spent another $500 to have our air ducts cleaned and disinfected. We hired another highly recommended home inspector for $250 that shined a flashlight everywhere and said the carpets may have gotten wet one time and held the smell. So we replaced them for $2500. The house still smelled. While driving one day I saw a truck that advertised infra-red home inspections. I contacted CIRTC and spoke to Len about the issues we had. He explained how infra-red could detect if there was a moisture problem or leak that wasn't being noticed that could be causing the problem. We hired him to scan our house and within one hour, he found that the plumbing under the kitchen sink was leaking under the cabinet, into the wall and through the wall into the flower bed outside, and into the crawlspace area of the basement. (The crawlspace was never moisture-proofed by the company we hired because they said it wasn't underground.) He and my husband removed a portion of the insulation in that area and it was horrific! There was dampness, active termites, bugs, and mold. That was 5 months ago, and we have had the entire area repaired and eradicated of mold and bugs for a total of $9300. (Our insurance covered some of the damages, and we are currently seeking legal counsel) Our total cost of useless services was around $6500. The infrared scan of the house was only $400. We could have saved over $6000 if we knew that there was a service like the one CIRTC provided. Had we knew 3 years ago, we wouldn't have bought the house! Len provided information about numerous other issues concerning our house that was not found by the other inspectors. We are still fixing those too. I have referred Len to everyone I know that is buying a house or has a problem with one! (name and location withheld at client's request) |
